Dürkheim Giant Wine Barrel

The Dürkheim Giant Wine Barrel is the landmark of the spa and wine town and the largest wine barrel in the world. In 1934 the master cooper Fritz Keller had the colossal structure built, with a capacity of around 1.7 million liters - yet it was never actually filled with wine, but used as a restaurant from the very start. Today the restaurant inside the barrel invites guests to enjoy Palatinate specialties, Riesling and a truly unique atmosphere. Set right by the Wurstmarkt square, the Giant Barrel is for many the first stop on a visit to Bad Dürkheim.
