District
Seebach
Seebach lies at the foot of the Limburg hill and is a quiet district surrounded by forest and meadows on the edge of the Palatinate Forest. Above the village towers the mighty Limburg monastery ruin, a Benedictine abbey once endowed by the Salian dynasty, whose Romanesque walls today form an impressive backdrop for concerts and the Christmas market. From the hilltop, the gaze sweeps over Bad Dürkheim and the vineyards far into the Rhine plain. In the surrounding woods hide the Celtic Heidenmauer, a vast pre-Roman ring rampart, and the legend-shrouded Roman Teufelsstein. Shady hiking trails lead straight from here into the Palatinate Forest, up to the Limburg or onward towards Hardenburg. Anyone seeking nature, history and rural calm away from the spa bustle is in the best of hands in Seebach.
