Pfeffingen

Pfeffingen is a quiet, unspoilt wine village between Ungstein and the sun-drenched slopes of the German Wine Route, nestled in the vineyards north-east of Bad Dürkheim. The famous Pfeffinger single site, part of the small Honigsäckel area, ranks among the finest in the Mittelhaardt and, on its chalky soils, yields robust, mineral Rieslings as well as elegant Pinots and deep, dark Dornfelder. Life in the tradition-rich winery courtyards is leisurely, and at the grower around the corner you can taste the wine right where it grows — best of all with tarte flambée, a Palatinate cold platter or a cool wine spritzer. Narrow paths lead through the vines all around the village up to the edge of the Palatinate Forest, from where the view sweeps far across the vineyards and the Rhine plain. In autumn, when the vineyards turn golden and the harvest begins, the mood is especially beautiful and the scent of fresh grape must hangs in the air. Anyone wishing to escape the bustle of the town centre and enjoy genuine Palatinate premium wine in a quiet, wine-steeped landscape is exactly right in Pfeffingen.
