The Wurstmarkt and the wine festivals

When Bad Dürkheim celebrates, the whole Palatinate joins in. At its heart is the Dürkheim Wurstmarkt, the largest wine festival in the world, which every September draws hundreds of thousands of guests to the foot of the Giant Barrel – with its Schubkärchler wine stands, Palatinate specialties and exuberant atmosphere. But beyond the Wurstmarkt the calendar is packed: the Erlebnistag Deutsche Weinstraße transforms the car-free wine route into a festival mile many kilometers long, and throughout the year numerous wine and courtyard festivals welcome visitors to the districts. Hospitality and conviviality are simply part of life here.
