Sachsenhütte
The Sachsenhütte sits on Weinstraße Nord right by the Wurstmarkt grounds and has been run as a family business since 1983. The name is misleading: this is not a forest hut in the Palatinate Forest but a guesthouse at the edge of the town center, a few steps from the Giant Barrel and the Salinarium. The menu centres on charcoal-grilled specialties and Croatian dishes, alongside Palatinate classics such as Schweinepfeffer and Wellfisch. According to the business the dining room seats around 80, with roughly 30 more places outside and a side room for about 40, which makes it a practical choice for groups and celebrations. For walkers and cyclists the location is handy: the Roman circular trail and the Pfalz wine paths towards the Roman estate at Weilberg start close by.
