Dürkheim Sausage Market 2026: dates, highlights & the Schubkärchler
The largest wine festival in the world returns — over two weekends in September, the Wurstmarkt grounds once again turn into a vast wine and festival mile around the Schubkärchler stalls.
Documented since 1417, the Dürkheim Sausage Market is regarded as the largest wine festival in the world, drawing around 600,000 visitors to the spa and wine town each year. In 2026, the festival once again takes place on the second and third September weekends on the Wurstmarkt grounds, overlooked by the Dürkheim Ferris wheel and the Giant Barrel. At its heart are the legendary Schubkärchler — small wine stalls where Palatinate winemakers serve their Riesling and Dornfelder straight from the source. Alongside them are Saumagen, bratwurst and Flammkuchen, a large funfair and the traditional fireworks over the grounds. The town recommends arriving by bus and train, as parking near the festival site fills up quickly.
